James Cowling

Hi I'm James, cofounder and CTO at Convex, (maybe kinda) the first sync-first database. I've spent most of my life working on sync. I led design on Dropbox's distributed storage system, distributed transactional database, multi-region storage, multi-homed metadata, file sync metadata, etc. Before that I did a PhD at MIT in distributed transactions and a masters in consensus protocols. I think distributed state management is the hardest part of any application and am excited about platforms that make these problems go away.
